Johnny James Readon was born April 11, 1959 in Florence County. He was the son of the late Wesley J. Readon and Winnie Readon. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.
He attended the public schools of Florence County. Even though he was small in statue he was known for his carpentry and landscaping abilities. He worked many years prior to his sickness being a helping hand to members of his Olanta, Florence, and Camden communities. He never met a stranger.
Johnny and Mary Fleming were blessed with two children they loved dearly.
Despite his illness, one of his greatest joys was watching the Dallas Cowboys play football and spending time with his family and friends.
Johnny was affectionately known to his loved ones and neighborhood friends as “Johnny Readon” his whole name. He had a down-to-earth personality and to know him is to love him. He had a unique sense of style with his matching outfits and hats. During his spare time, he enjoyed playing spades and bingo.
