Johnny Sloan Obituary

Johnny was born on December 31, 1941, to the late Landrum Earl and Edith Louise Cox Sloan. He served his country in the United States Navy for four years during the initial stages of the Vietnam War. After the military, he returned home and attended college to pursue a degree in education. Johnny served as a teacher at Laurens District 55 High School and a teacher and a guidance counselor at Abbeville High School. He was a member of Enoree Baptist Church.
Johnny is survived by a brother, Jackie Ray Sloan, and a sister, Ann Gentry.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Kennedy Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Rev. Ben Rumph, with military honors. The family will receive friends at the mortuary before the service from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Laurens County YMCA at https://lakelandsymca.org/donate/ or by mailing to 410 Anderson Drive, Laurens, SC, 29360.
