Johnny Stowe Obituary

Johnny Franklin Stowe, age 75, of Lithonia, Georgia, died on November 30, 2025. A family man, an animated storyteller, a friendly soul who never met a stranger, Johnny lived life to the fullest and with enthusiasm. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lithonia and attended Church on Main in Snellville.

Rather than being drafted, Johnny enlisted in the Army to serve his country during the Vietnam War, spending his 19th and 20th birthdays in service. He was a truck driver by trade and logged more than 2 million miles during his career on the road! A fix it man, he appreciated the inner workings of things, particularly watches and trains, and could often be found tinkering under the hood of a car. He also used his problem solving skills for another of his favorite hobbies: piecing together puzzles. Listening to music and going on camping trips were other pastimes that brought him much pleasure. His greatest joy in life was his family, and he treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren.

He was a loving husband to Janet, whom he said he would marry since the age of 13 when his family moved in next door to hers. They were married for 53 wonderful years. Additionally, he is survived by his children, Samantha Stowe, Anthony "Tony" Franklin Stowe (Jeannie), Chase Franklin Stowe; mother, Mary Agnes Ramsey; grandchildren, Vivika Stowe, Ethan Franklin Stowe; sisters, Phyllis Ann Lupfer, Angela Stowe, Carlotta Guillebeau (David); brother, Jim Cannaday (Tracey); numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceding him in death were his father, Billy Franklin Stowe, and brother, Sam Fagan.

A funeral service to honor and remember Johnny's life will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, December 6, at First Baptist Church of Lithonia, 6616 Hillandale Drive, Lithonia, with Dr. Bob Lindsay and Dr. Jim Martin officiating. Graveside interment with military honors will be held 1 o'clock, Wednesday, December 10, at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 5, at Henry Funeral Home, 6833 Church Street, Lithonia, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, https://nclvm.com/5tgto.

We invite you to share your fondest memories, leave tributes, and upload photographs to Johnny's memorial page. Let us celebrate his life, remember his spirit, and keep his memory alive in our hearts.
