York, SC – Mr. Johnny Taft Wright, 85, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm-12:50 pm on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Woodhaven Baptist Church, 2060 Marett Blvd Ext, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The service will follow at 1:00 pm with Dr. Tom Patterson, Rev. Kenny Vinson, and Rev. Scott Blasingame officiating.

Born in Rock Hill, SC, Johnny was the son of the late Ausbon "Aub" Lee Wright and the late Corinne "Crinn" Hedrick Wright. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Bill Wright, Richard Wright, Kenneth Wright, Jimmy Wright, and Betty Anne Wright. He was retired from Bowater with more than 40 years of service. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of Springlake Country Club and Pinetuck Golf Course. He also enjoyed fishing and boating and water-skiing on the river. Johnny was an avid guitar player who loved music. He proudly served as a Royal Ambassador leader. It was also no secret that he was a big fan of South Carolina Gamecock football.

Johnny was a member of Woodhaven Baptist Church in Rock Hill, where he served as a Deacon and participated as a choir member. He also served as a basketball coach for youth boys' basketball at the church. Everyone at Woodhaven respected him as a great leader and mentor.

Surviving are his spouse, Ricki Reeves Wright; his sons, John "Doug" Wright, and Kevin T. Wright (Sheri); his stepdaughter, Kim Blackmon (Russ Bryant); his grandchildren, Taylor Wright, Hailey Wright Frazier (Matt), Matthew Hill (Ashley), and Jacob Blackmon; and his great-granddaughter, Olive June Frazier.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Johnny's name to the Senior Adult Ministry at Woodhaven Baptist Church, 2060 Marett Blvd Ext, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
