Jon "Jack" Babler

Jon “Jack” Babler, 84 of Moorhead, MN passed away peacefully Monday, March 2, 2026, at SMP Health – St. Catherine North, Fargo, ND.

Jack was born on December 15, 1941, in Ada, MN to Paul and Carol (Cole) Babler. He grew up in Borup, MN and attended Borup High School and Crookston Ag School, graduating from Crookston in 1959.

He served in the US Air Force from 1960-1964 before joining the Air National Guard, retiring as a Master Sergeant E7 in 1991. Following his Air Force service, he attended Moorhead State University where he earned his master’s degree in education in 1968. He then spent his entire teaching career at Edison Elementary School in Moorhead, retiring in 2000. Jack was passionate about teaching and cared greatly for each student that came through his class.

On August 15, 1965, Jon married Doris Ostlie in Hatton, ND and together they raised two children, Jason and Julie.

Jack loved being in nature and watching the wildlife. He enjoyed skeet shooting, hunting and fishing, and appreciated sharing his hobbies with others.

Jack is survived by his wife, Doris; son, Jason (Lisa) Babler, and their children Emily (Wyatt) Oelkers, and Nolan Babler; and daughter, Julie Babler, and her children, Cole and Lucas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Allen Babler.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at North Buffalo Lutheran Church, Kragnes, MN.

Final resting place will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
