Jon Michael Johnson, age 60, passed away on February 25, 2026, after fighting a long and courageous battle with colorectal cancer.
Born in Chicago, Jon built a life rooted in loyalty, hard work, and deep love for his family and friends. He made his home in Melrose Park, where he was known as a steady presence and a friend to all who crossed his path.
Jon was a devoted Service Manager at O’Learys Contractors Equipment, where his dedication, skill, and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike. He took great pride in his work and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Above all, Jon was a loving and devoted husband to Cathy (née Beierwaltes) for 28 wonderful years, and a proud father to his daughter, Nicole (Ricardo). Jon and Cathy built a life filled with adventure and companionship, especially enjoying their time exploring ATV trails and embracing their shared love of motorsports. He held a special place in his heart for his 1954 Chevrolet 3100 pickup — a classic he cherished and proudly maintained.
Jon had an incredible love for his dogs, Sophie, Archie, and Kaia, who brought him comfort, companionship, and joy. They were truly part of his family.
Jon is survived by his beloved mother, Carolyn; his brother, Gill (Janette); his daughter, Nicole (Ricardo); and his devoted wife, Cathy. He was preceded in death by his father, Gill, and his sister, Mary.
Jon’s strength, courage, generosity, and unwavering loyalty left a lasting mark on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
