Jon Teare Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by River Glenn Cremations & Funeral Services on Nov. 4, 2025.
Jon "Pat" Patrick Teare, 65, of Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith on October 30, 2025. He was born on February 1, 1960, at Fort Dix, New Jersey, to John Richard Teare and Patricia Jean Botkin.
Pat grew up with a love for sports and competition. During his school years at Grand Island High School in Nebraska, where he later earned his GED, he played football, soccer, basketball, and was on his highschool swim team. He pursued some college education through various schools and went on to explore many jobs and careers, spending his last three years as a behavioral health technician.
At a young age, Pat proudly served in the United States Air Force as a fighter fighter, enlisting on June 8, 1978, and receiving an honorable discharge on June 29, 1979. On November 12, 1994, Pat married Ralynn Rachelle Scobee, with whom he shared many memories until their separation. Together, they raised two daughters, Rachelle Lynn Teare and Patricia Jean Teare, whom he loved deeply. Pat took great pride in being a father-coaching his daughters' soccer teams, teaching them the importance of education, family, and resilience, and always striving to provide for them no matter the challenges. His perseverance and devotion to his girls brought the family together and kept their bond strong through the years.
He was a lifelong sports fan, cheering passionately for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and he tracked all of his children's school's football teams as well. In his free time, he enjoyed playing matching and casino games on his phone, and watching a variety of different films and shows with his family, from old western movies and black-and-white shows he had grown up watching, to new shows like survior and the new matlock show. He loved going out and seeing movies, known for getting jumbo popcorn and a drink. He deeply cherished his family and the time spent with them.
Pat is survived by his daughters, Rachelle Lynn Teare and her fiancé, Christian Douglas Wells, and Patricia Jean Teare; his siblings, Kelly Oliveri and her husband John, Michael Teare, Candice Doering and her husband Mark, Melanie Ericson, and Brett Teare; and many beloved nieces and nephews, including Jarrod Lamp, James Oliveri, Melanie Hoffman, Brian Oliveri, Leah Doering, Marc Doering, Shanna Boykin, Brit Ericson, Kyle Ericson, Taylor Ericson, Bridgette Wiles, and Brooke Teare. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. Teare and Patricia J. Burnette (Botkin), and his brother-in-law, Wallace Ericson.
Pat will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his strength in adversity, and his dedication as a father. Though imperfect, he faced life's challenges with determination and heart, leaving behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and unity.
