Jonathan Clark Bolar

Jonathan Clark Bolar entered into eternal rest on February 11, 2024 at the age of 62. He was a native of Gretna, La and a resident of Harvey, La. He was educated in the Jefferson Parish school system and was a graduate of West Jefferson High School. In 1980, Jonathan headed to Louisiana State University where he majored in Architecture. While at LSU he joined Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity, Inc., and earned the line name of "Flinch." Jonathan was a proud member of Omega Psi Phi, until the lord called him home. He began a career with Jefferson Parish that spanned many years, where he earned the title of Superintendent of the streets Department. Jonathan embraced his entrepreneurial spirit, upon leaving parish employment, and became an independent contractor with the US Postal Service. He learned & ventured into the construction business. With a deep love for his hometown of McDonoughville, Jonathan set out to restore and maintain the value that was in his community. Jonathan loved Gretna and as a result of his deep concern for McDonoughville, he decided to run for the City Council. Jonathan became a City Councilman and served his city in this capacity with fervor and enthusiasm for two terms. Jonathan leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Karen Bolar, son Roddrick Sr. (Nakisha) Bolar, daughter Jessica (Durrell Jr) Jeffery, grandchildren, Jai'Ren, Camrie, Camron, and Roddrick Jr., Bolar and Demi Jeffery; In laws, Gwendolyn (Toxie) Turner, Crystal Jones, Carol Newton, Gregory Brown Sr.; One aunt, Doretha Williams, and a host of other relatives and friends. Proceeded in death by his parents John & Lubertha Bolar; in laws George Sr. & Shirley Ferrier, George Ferrier Jr., Gail F Brown, Allen Paul Newton & Kevin Jones Sr. Relatives and friends of the family also Volunteers of America, Harrah's N.O., City of Gretna & La Motor Coach Employees are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 924 Monroe St. Gretna, La on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00am.
