Jonathan "Jay" Nichols, a beloved figure in the Rochester community and a dedicated father, passed away on August 7, 2025, in Nevada. Born on January 4, 1976, in Rochester, New York, Jay was one of the founders of the Stoneyard Brewing Company and was currently working at Erie Home. His entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to his career were evident in every aspect of his professional life.

Jay graduated from St. John Fisher University with a bachelor's degree in business, where he not only studied but also made a name for himself on the football field as a member of the defensive line. His warm and inviting personality earned him the affectionate nickname of "Coach Jay," a testament to his love and dedication to children in the community. As a coach for his own children, he was deeply involved in their lives, attending games and supporting them in every endeavor.

Those who knew Jay described him as a big teddy bear with a heart of gold. He had an innate ability to connect with others, bringing people together and fostering a sense of community. Whether it was lending a helping hand to friends and co-workers or cheering on local youth at sporting events, Jay's selflessness shone brightly. His genuine nature and readiness to put others' needs before his own left a lasting impact on many. He was known for his vibrant energy, always ready to celebrate life to the fullest, embodying the phrase "go big or go home."

In addition to his professional pursuits, Jay enjoyed spending precious time with his family. He shared a unique bond with his fiancé, Jenelle Morse, and was a dedicated father to his wonderful children: Josette Nichols, James Morse, Gabriel Nichols, Elle Morse, and John Morse. Jay's love for his family was unparalleled, as he strived to be a guiding figure for them and an inspiration to those around him.

Jay is survived by his fiancé Jenelle Morse; his children, Josette Nichols, James Morse, Gabriel Nichols, Elle Morse, and John Morse; his sister, Virginia (Angelo) Iannucci; along with his nephew, A.J. Iannucci, and niece, Torrie Iannucci; and many loving family members and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Ann Nichols, and his grandparents.

A visitation to celebrate Jay's life will be held on September 3, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and again from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the New Comer Funeral Home, Eastside, located at 6 Empire Blvd, Rochester, NY 14609. A memorial service will take place the following day, September 4, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Ambrose Church, 25 Empire Boulevard, Rochester, NY 14609.

Jay Nichols will be remembered for his unwavering love and support for family and friends, his magnetic personality, and his desire to uplift those around him. While he may no longer be with us, his spirit and legacy will continue to inspire and guide all who were fortunate enough to know him.
