Jonathan Lang
Age 73, of Pittsburgh
Passed away peacefully on Monday, July 14, 2025.
Jonathan was born on June 5, 1952, to the late William Hewitt Lang and Margaret Irene (Keener) Lang. He was the beloved husband of the late Linda Rae Lang and a devoted father to Timothy Lang, Mary Lang, the late Hanna McLaughlin, Jonathan (Anita) Lang, and Andrew (Lindsay) Lang.
A proud grandfather, Jonathan cherished his 16 grandchildren: Elijah, Garrett, Greyson, Joshua, Noah, Owen, Ahlainna, Savannah, Olivia, Wyatt, Noah, Jacob, Isaiah, Cullen, Larkyn, and Samuel. He is also preceded in death by his four sisters-Georgina, Ruth, Deborah, and Hope.
Jonathan retired from CVS Health, where he worked as a customer service agent. His easygoing and pleasant personality made him not only a favorite among customers but also a bright light in the office. He earned the nickname "Motown" for his spontaneous bursts of singing, bringing laughter and music into the workplace.
Music was a lifelong passion for Jonathan. He played multiple instruments, sang in church throughout his life, and was also a songwriter. His songs reflected both his faith and his sense of humor-he wrote worship music to glorify God but also made up playful tunes just for his kids. His love for music was matched by his love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and was known in his family as a champion hide-and-seek player.
Jonathan was funny, friendly, and kind-a man who truly never met a stranger. His family often joked about how no matter where they went, he always seemed to run into someone "he went to school with," a running joke that will live on in their hearts. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially sitting around laughing with his kids and grandkids. He was often the life of the party, making every gathering brighter with his stories, jokes, and songs.
Faith was at the center of Jonathan's life. Since his youth, he was deeply involved in ministry, serving in various capacities at The Pentecostals of Oakmont, Three Rivers Praise and Worship Center, and Calvary Tabernacle. He preached, taught, led choirs, played music, and served wherever he was needed, always counting it a privilege to serve God by serving His people. He also gave back to his community by volunteering with the Oakmont Auxiliary Police.
Jonathan will be remembered for his famous Sunday morning wake-up call: "Rise and shine, this mo-ning, this mo-ning," which became part of his family's routine. His love of dad jokes and little "words of wisdom" will live on, like his favorite: "Remember, wherever you go, there you are." He often reminded those around him to "be watchful, prayerful, and careful." And, of course, his legendary sweet tooth and love of Little Debbie snack cakes are family memories that will always bring a smile.
Jonathan's life was a reflection of love, laughter, faith, and devotion. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his loved ones in Heaven, singing his songs and no doubt bringing joy to all around him.
