In memory of
Jon B
December 3, 2017
I remember hearing about your passing one morning while I was listening to the radio as I was heading into work. Although I never knew you or met you, I was saddened to hear that someone so young (18) gave his life for his country at such a young age. Several years have passed but for some reason I still think about you from time to time. I appreciate what you sacrificed at such a young age. God Bless you and your family.

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Jonathan, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Another Fallen Hero ~
My heart breaks as I sign another guestbook of such a courageous soldier who gave his life so selflessly. May he rest in peace knowing that he is loved and remembered by those who knew him. God Bless this soldier and his family who gave all and made the ultimate sacrifice. May God grant you peace, strength and comfort in such a difficult time. My deepest condolences and prayers to the entire family.
We understand what you are experiencing and feeling. No amount of words can ease the pain of your loss. We know first hand there are no words of comfort at this time. We lost our only son 9-3-2004 at the age of 19 and it fells like yesterday. Just know that there are Marines and families across the USA who is experiencing your loss and pain. We will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes.
I still fly my Marine flag and have my Marine tag and sticker on my vehicles because I'm PROUD of my SON and DAUGHTER, and all the SERVICE MEN and WOMEN out there. We will always be a MARINE. We are proud of you all.

To the family and parents of Jonathan, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many question as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There are no right or wrong ways to grieve, it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

My name is LCpl Retana I have left a previous message before. It has been a while and LCpl Flores's name will be remembered and carried on. He is part of our our elite forces and always will be. I saw our recruiter Sgt Quiros out here in Iraq. We were both in shock to see that we both ended up in the same place I am currently still here in Al Asad, Iraq. I work with Aviation Materials to be clear I am a 6433 aviation electrician technician. I want to know if any of you have a United States flag from out here in Iraq I want to fly one and send it to you(Flores family) if so I can get a certificate as well for it. My email should be sent with this so hopefully I will hear something soon.

Flores Family,
I will never forget my chance encounter with LCpl Jonathan R. Flores. I was on leave in San Antonio to attend my brother's wedding, when on my way to pick up my niece from her mother's house a funeral precession was about to pass by. I got out of my car to show my respects and noticed up and down the street of Pinn Road everyone else had as well, from the school kids and teachers at Anson Jones to the staff at Meadow Cliff all waving American flags for our hero LCpl Flores. As a nine year veteran of the Marine Corps it sent chills through my body to see the support and love we have for our heros in San Antonio. On this Memorial Day 2006 at Camp Buehring Kuwait I remember LCpl Jonathan R. Flores as well as all our other fallen heros. From the Escalante Family our hearts and prayers go out to you.

I remember us acting all crazy and you introducing me to friends at your high school John Jay. I remember you making fun of me cause of my picture I was so embarrassed of and you telling me to hurry and hit the fleet. I thought highly of you for your job and how it was different than me being a girl in the aviation field and you were a PFC and I was just a Private. I went on leave and saw you on the news , my heart was ripped apart. I have prayed for you and yours Ill be going to Iraq soon and I hope that your spirit will be next to me in the fighting hole or wherever I am to help me fight strong just like you Lance Corporal.

My name is SrA Tamara Rogalski I am in the USAF and am currently deployed in the Middle East. A friend of mine sent me a Veterans Memorial bracelet with LCPL Flores name and date in which he was KIA. I have been deployed for 123 days since May. I have been wearing this bracelet everyday of my deployment to remind me of why I am here and our purpose in life. It means so much to me that LCPL Flores sacrificed his life and I am proud to be wearing his name it reminds me of my son that I have at home waiting for me and how proud he is of me just like I am of Flores. Although I will never meet Jonathan he will remain in my thoughts and my prayers everyday of my life.
