Funeral service for Jonathon Keith Dunagan, 65, will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 11 o’clock a.m. at First Baptist Church of Basile. Rev. Mike Fontenot will officiate. Burial will follow at China Cemetery in Elton.
The family will receive family and friends at First Baptist Church of Basile on Tuesday morning beginning at 8 o’clock a.m. until time of service. All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton.
Jonathon, affectionately known as “J.D.” or “Johnny”, loved spending time with family, especially with his children and grandchildren, close friends and other family members. He spent many days and nights cooking for and eating with those he loved. J.D. also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid LSU football and basketball fan and a fan of the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans, as well. He was also a dedicated follower of the Basile Bearcats and the Elton Indians. J.D. was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish J.D.’s memory include his wife, Felecia Dunagan; his five children, Jeremy Dunagan and wife, Katie, Nicholas Dunagan and wife, Lupe, Jordan Dunagan and wife, Susi, Stefan Dunagan and wife, Kelly, and Ethan Dunagan; seven grandchildren, Nathyn Dunagan, Jon-Louis Jeffery Dunagan, Lucas Dunagan, Shae Dunagan, Arianna Dunagan, Isabella Dunagan, and Silas Dunagan; five siblings, Danielle Manuel, Thomas Dunagan, Kimberly Allen, Jeffery Dunagan, and Lee Fontenot; four stepchildren, Kimberly Richard, Christy Cortina, Chantell Thibodeaux, and Carlton Thibodeaux; as well as many extended family members and friends.
J.D. is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert J. and Jessie Fay Fuselier Dunagan; and one sister, Jacqueline Sue Dunagan.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers for J.D.’s service will include Nicholas Dunagan, Jordan Dunagan, Stefan Dunagan, Ethan Dunagan, Kenneth Ashford, and Paul Fuselier.
