Jonell M. Garrett

Heaven gained another angel on November 10, 2025 when God called Jonell Maria (Pyers) Garrett, 62, home after a long courageous battle with cancer. Jonell was born in Millersburg, Ohio on August 14, 1963, to Marsha Chanay and Michael Pyers.
She was married to John (Jack) Garrett for 44 years and together they raised a daughter and two sons. They shared many beautiful times together over the years, and welcomed 5 grandchildren whom they adored.
Jonell worked in retail for many years, most of them alongside her husband. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, reading and baking. Her imagination and creative ideas were boundless. Her fun personality always left a positive impact on everyone she met.
Jonell leaves behind her husband, John (Jack) Garrett, daughter Jara Lighty, sons, Jaimin (Jessica) Garrett, and Joel Garrett. Grandchildren, Dominick, Jace, Jalyssa, Jane and Jack, all of Hanover. Parents, Marsha (Forrest) Chanay, Killbuck, Ohio, Michael (Carol) Pyers, Mansfield, Ohio, Siblings, Kris Pyers of Shreve, Ohio, Jeremy (Denise) Pyers of New Oxford, Pa., Tiffany Shelly of Wadsworth, Ohio, Melanie (Daniel) Ody of Scio, Ohio, Sandy (Prescott) Marble of Marietta, Georgia, and 3 beloved dogs. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and family whom she loved dearly. (Jordan, Kelsey, Haley, Max, Breanna, Magen, Saila, Rowan, Kayten, Daniel)
Our God has a plan for everyone's life and we are so grateful for the love and blessings that we have received during these hard times. We all were truly blessed to have Jonell in our lives and for everyone who took the time and effort to help us in any way during her care she received. Many doctors, nurses, hospice, ministries, meals and love and kindness shown will always be remembered by us as we grieve her loss.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can made in her honor at your local SPCA.
