JoNita Dahlgren

JoNita Dahlgren (Coppock), age 97, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, in Yukon,
Oklahoma. She was born on July 21, 1928, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and lived a long,
joy-filled life rooted deeply in her love for Jesus, her family, and the simple beauty of everyday
moments.
JoNita attended Linwood Elementary, Taft Junior High School, and Classen High School,
graduating in 1946. She later enrolled at Belhaven College for Girls in Jackson, Mississippi.
Known for her bright spirit and independent nature, she completed nearly all of her college
requirements, but she never took the final French course she needed to graduate, a detail she
always shared with a smile and a sparkle in her eye.
On June 3, 1952, Jo Nita married the love of her life, Jim Dahlgren, in a heartfelt ceremony held
at home. Together, they built a life filled with children and precious memories. Jim preceded her
in death after many years together. She is survived by her children Charles Dahlgren, John
Dahlgren, and Nancy Schmidt; her brother John Coppock as well as her daughters in-law, son
in-law and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever carry her legacy
in their hearts.
A woman of unwavering faith, JoNita lived out her love for Jesus in every season of life. She
cherished the Word deeply; her Bible was the only book she ever needed and she found joy in
sharing its messages with those around her. Her kind heart, shining spirit, and infectious smile
were a beacon to all who knew her.
In her early years, JoNita competed in ballroom dance. She had a love for cosmetics and
delighted in visiting Dillard's to find new fragrances and makeup, always enjoying the little joys
of life. She loved painting, gardening, and spending time on the family farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
There, she tended her garden, watched every car that drove down the road, and greeted family
with her unforgettable "woo-hoos" as she came through the door, an unmistakable sound that
always meant love had arrived.
JoNita was known for her grace, creativity, quick wit, and the joy she spread effortlessly. Her life
was a tapestry of faith, humor, resilience, and devotion to the people she cherished most.
With grateful hearts, the family thanks everyone for the prayers, kind words, and memories
shared of JoNita. She held her friendships close and found great joy in the people God placed in
her life.
A quiet, private service will be held for the family. They find comfort in knowing she is now at
peace, reunited with loved ones, and held in the everlasting arms of her Savior.
