In memory of
Sean Perry
February 6, 2025
Hello John J. Edmunds. You sound like an amazing person, soldier and are definitely loved. My name is Sean Perry, I was Spec Ops at Ft. Bragg, NC (Liberty now I think). I found this site because I am going to live at the John Edwards house in Cheyenne, WY next week. Moving my life from Virginia to Wyoming is a dream and was put together by amazing people here and in Cheyenne. It’s a chance for a new start/life for me and I will not let you down brother. I will do all I can to honor your sacrifice and help as many people as I can once I am able. I can only imagine what this kind of love and respect is like at this point. You obviously left an impact and are loved. Rest easy..

My daughter Marykate (14) is running in honor of your son Spc John Edmunds in the Casper Chase Fallen Soldiers Memorial 5k tomorrow morning in Casper, WY. She just graduated 8th grade and has an older brother who is active duty USAF. I wanted to know more about your son and wanted her to know who she is running in honor of. I thought it was special that your daughter was an 8th grader when John died and my daughter is roughly the same age now. She will proudly run wearing your son´s image in his honor tomorrow. She shares some of the same determination, grit, and competitive spirit that has been written about your son. My sincere condolences for your loss and sacrifice.

My wife and her family buried her father this week. He was a 32 year Army veteran and is buried only 20-30 feet from where you rest. I came upon your stone late this evening after leaving a coin at my father-in-laws site, stood there paying my respects, and contemplated how you left this world entirely too early. A 23 year retired Army veteran myself, with two tours to Afghanistan and two to Iraq, I wanted to learn more about you. I vowed to my wife that when we come out from Tennessee to visit family, and her fathers grave, I would stop by to say hello. Rest easy, Soldier. RLTW!

To the family: When we suffered a surprise attack at Pearl Harbor, America answered the call and there was a time of war then a time of peace. When we suffered the surprise attack of 9/11- America once again answered the call and we have been in a time of war- because of your Spc Jonn J Edmunds and so many other hero's - there will be a time for peace once again! I did not know him, but I know of the freedom he defended and I am forever grateful. I pray you allow God to give you comfort and that you will always know that this American will do her part to preserve the freedom here at home.

I wish that I could have been blessed to know Spc. Jonn J. Edmunds during his lifetime, but I am thankful that I can join his family, friends and fellow soldiers now to honor him, to grieve for him and to remember the ultimate sacrifice he made by giving his life for all of us. I want his family to know that I will be praying for each of you every day as long as I have breath. When the time comes for me to close my eyes to this life, I plan to look for Jonn and spend some of eternity getting to know him there. Jonn, thanks for touching all the many lives that you did while you were here. I feel that our soldiers are truly the sons and daughters of all Americans. We are so proud of you and will never forget you. Now rest in peace, son. You well deserve it.

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

My husband and I just wanted you to know that our family is wearing your son's bracelet. We have a 20 year old son who also is a 3rd BN Ranger. He picked out your son's bracelet for us to wear and we have been wearing it since the day ours was deployed. He is due back from Baghdad tomorrow. We appreciate your son's service to our country. If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron A. I don't know if this will get to the family of this brave young man but I have a favor to ask of them. I am an American woman who is grateful every day to the men and women who protect us. I am designing a tattoo for myself that includes dog tags in the design and I would like to have printed on each a name of an American Hero. I would like to use Spc. John J. I will wear this with pride and honor and hope that it brings you some comfort to know that there are so many who will never be able to repay the sacrifice but want to acknowledge it as best we can.
