Jordan Ball Obituary

Jordan Thomas Ball, 26, of Oneida, Illinois, tragically passed away on December 1, 2025, resulting from an automobile accident in rural Oneida. Born on December 12, 1998, in Des Moines, Iowa, Jordan leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, energy, humor, and passion for life that touched all who knew him.

He dedicated much of his life to education and sports, currently teaching 7th grade Geography at Galesburg Junior Senior High School and coaching the 7th grade boys’ basketball team. Jordan graduated from Troy Buchanan High School, where he loved his time playing baseball. Continuing his passion for learning, he earned a Bachelor of Science in History from Monmouth College in 2021, where he additionally played baseball for the Fighting Scots, tying the record for the most triples hit in a single season.

Jordan’s love for the game extended beyond high school and college; he played for the St. Charles Capitals Travel Baseball team during high school and continued to showcase his skills in the Peoria Sunday Morning League with the Crusens Reds. Colleagues and teammates alike often spoke of his unmatched enthusiasm for the game, noting how his nature and fierce dedication made him not just an exceptional player and leader, but a cherished friend to many.

A kind-hearted soul, Jordan reveled in making memories with his family and friends. He married his childhood sweetheart, Alexis Brooke Enright, on July 25, 2021, in Wentzville, Missouri. The love he shared with Alex was evident to all, a partnership rooted in deep affection, warmth, and shared joy. Together they welcomed their son, Atticus, and were eagerly anticipating the arrival of their daughter, due in April 2026. One of Jordan’s most proud and joyous moments was the day he became a father. He loved every moment as Atticus’ dad and was so excited to meet their baby girl.

Along with his wife and son, Jordan is survived by his father and stepmother, Casey (Shelley Langfitt) Ball of Windsor Heights, Iowa, and his siblings: Nicole (Ryan) Ball-Brandt of Jefferson City, Missouri, Nicholas Ball of Windsor Heights, Courtney Gardner and fiancé Erika Dillender of Wright City, Missouri, and Paige Ball of Windsor Heights., and grandparents Sheila and Lenny Johnson of Troy, Missouri. He is also cherished by his in-laws, Fern and William Enright of Troy, Missouri, and sister-in-law, Lauren Enright of Troy, Missouri, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Stacy Marie (Dicus) Hammack, who died on September 19, 2018, his paternal grandparents, Mary and Wiley J. Ball; and his maternal grandfather, William M. Dicus.

In his free time, Jordan enjoyed family time, computer gaming with friends, watching UFC, and proudly cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Fitness was a huge part of his life and he loved going to the gym to work out daily. His laughter, kindness, and vibrant spirit will forever be remembered by his family and many friends, each carrying a piece of his legacy in their hearts. Jordan T. Ball left this world too soon, but the joy he brought to others will echo through the lives he touched.

Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Galesburg Junior/Senior High School, Thiel Gymnasium, Sunday, December 7, 2025 with funeral services following at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
