The family of Jordan Lepow, of Philadelphia, PA is saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the age of 91 after a long battle with cancer.
Jordan is survived by his two sons, Marc Lepow and Richard (Amy) Lepow, as well as his two grandchildren, Brynn and Jared Lepow. He is also survived by his favorite nephews, Peter Sklar and Jeremy Sklar.
He also leaves behind his long-time partner Marilyn Swartz, her son Ron (Jodi) Swartz, her daughter Debbie (Stan) Carlat, as well as Marilyn’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jordan was preceded in death by his wife Barbara (nee Branhut) Lepow as well as his parents, Lena and Sam Lepow.
After graduating Olney High School Jordan went to Penn State Ogontz until he was drafted into the army during the Korean War. Upon leaving the army, he joined his father, continuing the family business of 5th Street Auto Parts in North Philly. Jordan loved his work as a self proclaimed “Junkman” and 5th Street was his first love.
He met his wife Barbara on a blind date and were married in 1961. They raised their sons Marc and Rich and enjoyed many years together until Barbara’s passing in 1989.
Jordan met Marilyn at the Jewish Y and they enjoyed their retirement years together. During this time, Jordan watched proudly from the sidelines as his younger son Rich successfully carried on the family business, 5th Street Auto Parts.
Nothing was more important to Jordan than his family, friends, and his grandkids, although he did love to watch the stock market everyday! He was a very proud US Veteran and his Jewish faith was very important to him. He was also a great storyteller and would talk to anyone who would listen. Fishing was also a hobby he enjoyed throughout his lifetime.
The world is a lonelier place without Jordan Lepow in it, but heaven is certainly lucky to have gained such a special man. Jordan was 91 years old. His was a life VERY well lived…and loved.
