Funeral services for Jose "Joe" Gil Barrera, 63, of Missouri City, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2013 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Joe was born November 7, 1949 in Sugar Land to Juan Zapata Barrera and Bonifacia (Gil) Barrera. He passed away September 20, 2013 in Sugar Land. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Bonifacia Barrera and siblings, Mary Rodriguez and Juan "John" Barrera, Jr. He is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years, Irma Garces Barrera; children, Leticia Barrera-Woods and husband, Roderick, Joel Barrera (Orquidia Diaz) and Erika Barrera; siblings, Esperanza B. Escobar, Antonia Barrera, Petra B. Garza, Eusebia B. Behymer, Paul Barrera, Guadalupe B. Lopez, Gabriel Barrera and Jesse Barrera; grandchildren, Alannah Barrera, Joel Barrera Woods, Erik Barrera Woods, Micah Barrera Woods, McCaleb Barrera Woods and expected in November, baby boy Joel Levi Barrera; along with other relatives and a host of friends. Pallbearers will include Joel Barrera, Jessie Barrera, Gabriel Barrera, Lonnie Barrera, Joe "Wally" Aquirre and Roger Fernandez. Honorary pallbearers will be Joel Barrera Woods and Erik Barrera Woods.
