Jose R. Cortes was born on April 28, 1945 in Rovira Tolima, Colombia to Fernando Cortes Marin and Blanca Lopez. Jose had a hard childhood and lost his mother at 7 years old and since then he has been a fighter to survive in life. He knew what it was to not have anything. There is no one he would not help. There was always enough for anyone that came his way. He loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a great example of what it means to have a servant's heart. His love for God showed through him, and every one that came his way he would share the great love of God. He loved his wife Rosalba Cortes and his three children Jhonathan Cortes, Rosalyn Cortes, and Kevin Cortes. From Colombia he moved to New York alone in 1986 to one day bring his family to the United States. That was a dream of his and because of his sacrifice they made it here in 1992. He owned JRC Window Cleaning and he took pride in his work. He would always say, whatever your work is, do it as if it was for the Lord. He was a happy, loving, and joking person. If someone needed financial help, he would not turn his face away. He would give even if that meant he was going to be without. Everyone that came his way would always leave with a laugh or a smile. He made a lot of extended children that saw him as a father who he loved. You all know who you are. His biggest accomplishment was loving his neighbor as himself. He fought the good fight. And when he meets his Creator He will tell Jose, "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master's happiness!" Matthew 25:21
Jose is survived by his wife, Rosalba Cortes, his children, Jhonathan Cortes, Rosalyn Cortes, Kevin Cortes and grandchildren, Eliseo Cortes, Ezekiel Cortes, Ethan Miller, and Milo Miller.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Fernando Marin Cortes and Blanca Lopez.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards all the church family and friends who have shared their love and stories of everything Jose has done for them.
