Jose G. Cortes

Waterbury – Jose G. Cortes, 42, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 24, 2026. He was born on October 30, 1983, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, the son of Jose Luis Cortes and the late Minerva (Cuevas) Cortes.

Jose grew up in a fun and loving household in Waterbury, Connecticut, surrounded by many siblings. He had a passion for cooking and loved creating his own versions of recipes inspired by the culinary shows he enjoyed watching. Known as a jokester, Jose had a special gift for making those around him laugh. He was kind, generous, and hardworking, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Jose is survived by his beloved daughter, Aracellys E. Cortes. He is also survived by his siblings: Norberto Cortes, Hortencia Cortes, Minerva Lopez, Carmen Cortes, Elizabeth Cortes, Jose L. Cortes, and Iris G. Cortes. His memory will also be cherished by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jose was predeceased by his mother, Minerva (Cuevas) Cortes, whom he loved very dearly.

Jose will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Arrangements: Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, CT. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery, 850 Meriden Road, Waterbury, CT.
