Jose S. Fernandez (Joe), age 78, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Medical Center Hospital, Odessa, Texas. Joe was born on November 16, 1945, in Laredo, TX to Olegario A. Fernandez and Carolina S. Fernandez. His family moved to Odessa, Texas in 1951, which he considered his hometown.
Joe spent most of his career as a welder and working with machinery, his last employment was with Enron Oil & Gas Company. Joe enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children.
Joe is survived by four sons; Joe Fernandez Jr., of Silver Creek, MS, Steven Fernandez of Salem, OR, Jose Fernandez II of Harrisonville, MO, Reynaldo Fernandez of Houston, TX.; one daughter, Linda Fernandez of Salem, OR; two brothers, Hernan Fernandez of Odessa, TX, Selso Fernandez of Albuquerque, NM; four sisters, Emerida Guerra of Antioch, CA, Carolyn Fernandez of Oakley, CA, Corina McMurry of Ripon, CA, Benita Robles of Antioch, CA;
Joe also leaves to cherish his memory 12 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is set for Monday, June 10th, 2024, from 1PM-9PM at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services are set for 10AM Tuesday, June 11th, 2024, at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel with Corina McMurray officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery Rosehill Section.
Joe will be remembered for his kind and compassionate nature and his love for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
