José Felix González, affectionately known as “Pepe,” of Chatsworth, CA, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the age of eighty-three.
José was born in Havana, Cuba, on October 18th, 1942, to Feliciano González and Teresa Tamargo. He graduated from Colegio Baldor in 1960. He went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Havana in 1976. He worked for many years for the Ministry of Transport back in his native Cuba. In 1989, José immigrated to the United States with his wife and two daughters. He settled with his family in California, where he worked for over 20 years for LA County Olive View Medical Center as an insurance clerk.
He loved taking vacations to Florida, to enjoy what he loved so much: Miami Beach, while visiting family and old friends. He also enjoyed listening to music, tinkering with computers, and picking up his grandkids from school, where he was always the first in car line. He loved baseball and was always a big fan of the NY Yankees, since his youth back in Cuba.
José is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carmen González, daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Bernardo Aguirre, Teresita and René Marquina, four grandchildren Andrea, Diego, Gabriela and Daniela, his younger sister Mirtha DeLeón, nephews Michael and John Campaignio, and Manuel DeLeón, and a niece Liliana Rivero.
He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
The visiting service will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd from 5 to 9pm, with a Rosary at 6pm, at Rose Family Funeral Home, 4444 Cochran St., Simi Valley, CA 93063. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 4th at 10am at St. John Eudes Catholic Church, 9901 Mason Ave, Chatsworth, CA 91311. Burial will follow at San Fernando Mission Catholic Cemetery, 11160 Stranwood Ave, Mission Hills, CA 91345, at 11:30am.
