Jos Libardo Mu oz our beloved father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on Aug. 23, 2022, in Murray, Utah.
Appropriately, Jos Libardo s final hours of mortality were spent surrounded by family. La familia meant everything to him.
Jos Libardo was born on June 10, 1928, in Palmira, Colombia, to Francisco Antonio Mu oz and Maria Josefa Saavedra. He came from a large family and was the fourth of 10 siblings.
Jos Libardo s early life was not easy. His parents died when he was still young and he had to work to help support himself and his brothers and sisters. His work ethic would serve him well throughout his life. Even when he was in his 90s, he found great pleasure in planting a garden and raising juicy tomatoes by the hundreds.
Jos Libardo was still a teenager when he met a pretty Palmira girl named Angela Rosa Bedoya. Jos Libardo and Angela would later marry in the city s Catedral de Nuestra Se ora del Rosario del Palmar on July 20, 1953. Their union was later sealed for time and eternity in the Provo, Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jos Libardo was the father of nine children: Maria Elena, Victor Manuel, Marta Lucia Pacheco (Omar), Richard (Gladys), Luz Angela Fonseca (Jos Jes s Alfonso (Nancy), Josefina Swensen (Jason), Clara In s Melendez, and Francedi Diaz (Jorge).
Jos Libardo and Angela are the proud grandparents of 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Jos Libardo was always industrious and owned a variety of businesses including a family farm, a car dealership and a tire shop. He was interested in politics and twice served on Palmira s City Council.
Jos Libardo s life forever changed when he was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1977 by a dear friend, President Jay E. Jensen, who was presiding over the Colombia Cali Mission.
The gospel became the anchor in his life and he found great joy fulfilling a variety of callings, studying the scriptures and the words of Latter-day Saint leaders and sharing his beliefs with others. Just a month before his passing, he was able to baptize a friend that he had helped teach the gospel.
He was a true patriarch in the Mu oz family and was typically called upon to pray whenever the family gathered together.
Nothing made Jos Libardo happier than being with his family. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and found great joy in cooking for them, offering generous advice and watching them all grow and follow their own respective paths.
He was also a generous friend and an extrovert. Over the course of his life, Jos Libardo followed a Christian impulse to serve others. Many times that meant sharing his food or opening his home to others. He was also dedicated to ministering and never hesitated to offer a helping hand or his time for someone in need.
A sports fan, he was never too tired to watch a soccer game or a boxing match.
We are grateful that our beloved Jos Libardo was able to live a long life. He endured cancer and several heart attacks but always seemed to come back stronger.
Jos Libardo was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Rosa, and their infant daughter, Maria Elena. He is survived by his siblings Deyanira Vargas and Henry Saavedra.
Friends and family are invited to gather for funeral services on Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint meetinghouse, at 7380 S. 1300 West, in West Jordan, Utah.
