Jose "Tony" Antonio Ortiz, Jr., 42, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday morning, November 7, 2025. Jose was born on January 18, 1983, in Lubbock, to Jose Antonio Ortiz, Sr. and Gloria (Perez) Ortiz.
Jose loved his football, especially the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved the LA Lakers, NY Yankee’s and the Dodgers. He loved and adored his children, Javan and Isabella. Jose was always smiling, was the comedian and jokester in the family and was always teasing family members. Jose recently started working for the District West Apartment complex in Lubbock, in the maintenance department, after moving here from the Dallas area.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his parents: Gloria Ortiz of Lubbock, and Jose Antonio Ortiz, Sr. (and wife, Debroada); a son, Javan Jovanni Ortiz of Amarillo; a daughter, Isabella Amor Lopez of Lubbock; two brothers: Orlando Rene Ortiz, Sr. (wife, Valerie) of Lubbock and Raul Reynaldo Ortiz, Sr. (fiancé, Jodeci Martinez) of Lubbock; his paternal grandmother, Virginia Ortiz of El Paso. Jose was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Oscar Ortiz and his maternal grandparents, Matias Perez and Ofelia Perez.
A visitation for Jose has been planned from 1 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, next door to Combest Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, also at the Venue on Broadway. Pastor Joshua Lucio will be the officiant for the service. Final rites and interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home.
