Joseph Scott Aldridge passed away on Sunday, January 22nd, 2023 in Sandy, Utah. Joe was born on November 24th,1961 in Billings Montana. He was proceeded in death by his mother Harriett (Harder) Aldridge, his father Harold Aldridge, brother Kelly Aldridge and sister-in-law Diane (Lee) Aldridge.
Joe's greatest joys were his children, grandchildren, and family. He is survived by his sister Diane, 2 sons Dustin (Sheana), Christopher, and daughter Lindsey. Joe was blessed with the joy of 8 grandchildren ages 16 years to 4 months. Nevaeh, Thomas, Allison, Atlas, Akasha, Morgan, and step-grandchildren Boston, and Kensli. As well as 5 nieces and nephews.
Joe was a wonderful father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was always willing to help others, and his tenacity shined through all his passions in life. Joe had an infectious smile and a great sense of humor. He always found the positives in life and cared deeply for his family and friends.
Joe attended Billings High School where he found his love for baseball and quickly became a town hero for his natural ability to play the game pitching for the Billings Royals. He was the recipient of the Les Smith award which is given to the player who best exemplifies leadership, citizenship, and sportsmanship. His passion, work ethic, and dedication earned him an athletic scholarship where he attended Brigham Young University. He later received the Ed Bayne Award and was inducted into the Billings American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame on April 25, 2015.
Joe served an honorable mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in the Arkansas, Little Rock Mission where he touched the lives of many with his kindness and his testimony. He met his future wife Ramona Lunt on his mission where they later married in the Jordan River, Utah Temple in 1984. Utah is where Joe spent the rest of his years raising his three beautiful children mainly in South Jordan and Draper.
He loved taking his family to Lake Powell where they enjoyed boating and camping. Some of his other enjoyments were found in writing, reading books, jeeping, hunting, cars, and working in the garage. He spent hours teaching his sons how to build and re-build cars, motorcycles and anything needing fixing.
Joe was very talented and had a great passion for art that began as a young man. Throughout Joe's life, he would paint on canvas with oil and acrylic and draw and sketch with pencil and charcoal. He has several wonderful, finished art pieces he enjoyed sharing with family and friends.
Another passion for Joe was his work ethic and he found a bountiful career in sales. He spent many years selling mortgages. He sold jewelry for Fortier Jeweler's (where he was part owner) and Fred Myers Jeweler's. He also enjoyed his time selling cars at Larry H Miller.
In May 2000, Joe married his second wife Nicole Pitcher in Sandy, Utah. Joe and Nicole enjoyed 12 years of marriage.
Joe suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke in December of 2017 where he spent 3 months at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. Joe spent the next 2 years living with his eldest son and wife where he worked daily to regain his ability to speak, read and write, striving to make a full recovery. Joe was a fighter and applied his lifelong tenacity to improve daily, moving towards his goals. He spent the last years of his life with friends and family. He continued to paint, draw and write.
On the evening of January 22nd, 2023, Joe was called home to his heavenly father. He passed peacefully in his sleep. Services will be held on Friday, February 3rd, 2023 beginning at 11:00 am at Cottage Charm, 9318 South 700 E Sandy, UT 84070.
Gravesite cremation burial services to follow at the Larkin Cemetery where Joe will be buried by his brother in Sandy, Utah. All who knew and loved him are welcome.
