Lynda Zimmer Straw
December 22, 2025
I was a newspaper colleague of Roger's at the Arkansas Democrat. My husband, Robert Zimmer, was the AP correspondent in Little Rock who died in 1992.
Thanksgiving weekend of 1993, I was in New York City where Ray Straw proposed to me atop the Empire State Building. We were walking along the sidewalk adjacent to Rockefeller Center when this bearded man came up and hugged me. I thought I was being mugged!
It was Roger, the last time I saw him.
So sorry to hear about his passing.
Lynda Zimmer Straw, Bloomington, IL.
