Joseph L. Armeli Sr.

Joseph L. Armeli, Sr. of Blue Bell and a former longtime resident of the Somerton section of Northeast Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 21, 2019. He was 87 years old. Born July 2, 1931 in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Calogero and Emmanuela (nee Pica) Armeli, and the beloved husband of Phyllis (nee Alexander) with whom he spent 59 years of marriage. Joe was an avid sports fan and Korean War Veteran. He raised his family in North East Philadelphia and moved to Blue Bell in 2010. While in the Northeast, he was a member of Maternity BVM and then became a member of St. Helena's Church once he arrived in Blue Bell. Joe did volunteer work with his wife at St. John Neumann Nursing Home. In addition to his wife Phyllis, Joe is survived by his three sons: Joseph L. Jr. (Jennifer), John S., and Stephen R. (Mary), four grandchildren: Julia, Nicholas, Catherine and Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by his two brothers; Louis and Frank Armeli. Relatives and friends are invited to Joe's viewing on Thursday February 28, from 9 to 10:50 AM at St. Helena's Church 1489 Dekalb Pike Blue Bell, PA. His Funeral Mass will begin at 11 AM at the church. Interment will be at St. John Neumann Cemetery in Chalfont. Family services are by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 610-277-7000.
