Joseph Robert Basiliere, affectionately known as Froggy or Bob, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the age of 86. He transitioned from this life to the next, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and quiet faith.
Born in Massachusetts to Armand and Edna Basiliere, Bob was the eldest of four siblings: Simone (Kelvin) Swanson, Lorraine Spehar, and Alan (Robin) Basiliere. Raised in the Catholic faith, he carried his beliefs with him throughout his life.
Bob excelled during his high school years at Maricosa High School, where he proudly competed on the football, wrestling, and swim teams. After graduation, he honorably served in the U.S. Air Force as a Military Policeman (MP), culminating his service with a deployment to Korea.
Upon returning, Bob married Eileen Burke, and together they built a loving family with five children: Jill Crump, Lorraine (Bill) Lunderville, Sheree Belcher, Guy (Stacy) Basiliere, and Ty (Aubry) Basiliere.
In 1975, seeking a simpler, more grounded life, Bob and Eileen relocated from Irvine, California, to Lockesburg, Arkansas. Bob had thoughtfully prepared by taking agriculture classes, and the family embraced rural living—raising animals, tending gardens, and cultivating a close-knit home far from city life. Through it all, he instilled in his children the enduring values of hard work and dedication.
Later in life, Bob found joy near the shores of Lake Ouachita, spending countless relaxing days on his party barge with friends. He shared cherished years with his wife Mary in Benton, Arkansas, before moving to Nashville, Arkansas, to remain close to family in his final chapter.
In his later years, Bob delighted in everyday pleasures: watching and feeding birds and rabbits, going junking with Jill, watching tv and enjoying meals out with loved ones. His warm, steady presence touched many lives.
Bob is survived by his five children, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. We feel deeply honored to have shared in his journey and will carry his spirit forward with gratitude and love.
Rest in peace, Froggy/Bob.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.
