Joseph Bohlinger Obituary

Published by Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home on Nov. 1, 2015.
Joseph B. Bohlinger of the Town of Poughkeepsie entered into rest on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. He was 86. Son of the late Ellsworth Bay Bohlinger and Martha Marie Leusing Bohlinger, he was born on December 9, 1928 in Rudco, New York. He married the former Amelia Perusse on February 18, 1961 at New Hackensack Reformed Church in Wappingers Falls; Mrs. Bohlinger survives at home. Mr. Bohlinger proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was also a life member of the American Legion Post 1302. He worked for many years as a foreman for the New York State Department of Transportation, until his retirement. In his spare time, Joseph loved restoring old cars; he was especially fond of pre-war models. He also enjoyed steam trains. Joseph valued nature and the wildlife in his own backyard. Most important was his family. He especially enjoyed watching his grandkids play football and baseball. In addition to his wife, Amelia, survivors include his sons, Joseph M. Bohlinger and his wife, Linda of Glenham, and Richard J. Bohlinger and his wife, Michele of LaGrange; sisters, Elizabeth Finn of Poughkeepsie, and Helen Osterhoudt of North Carolina; grandchildren, Joseph, Steven, Michael, Matthew and Robert Bohlinger, and Kaitlyn Krebs; and great-grandchildren, Elliot J. and Charlee Amelia Anne Bohlinger. Mr. Bohlinger was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Family will receive their friends on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 4th at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, Wappingers Falls. For directions or to send a personal condolence, please visit our website at www.StraubCatalanoHalvey.com.

Sorry for your loss to the whole BolingerFamily .

Joe reminded me of one of my Uncle's which he had worked with one at Vassar College Farms many many years ago. Joe was Old school which I come to appreciate and miss the stories, memories, knowledge, wisdom. He was a strong hard worker. Ironically I have to add many years ago I used to come out of work and would see his plate #4975. I always remembered it. Last night without knowing of your Dad's passing something told me to play his plate #. Our thoughts & prayers are with you Joe Jr and your family as you mourn the loss and celebrate the life of your Dad.
He will truly be missed.
"May God Bless you Joe"
Respectfully,
Jimi Campbell & family
