Mr. Joseph F. Burke

Tom, I was so sorry to learn of your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family. I wish I had known your father, I know he was a wonderful gentleman and mentor.

It was an honor to work with Mr. Burke as he devoted many Fridays to the High School Program at the City Club. He inspired hundreds of students. Truly a man for others.

Words are the wonderful tools of communication, and, in the hands of those skilled in their usage, they can bring peace, comfort, & perspective even in a time as this. A friend of James Allen, author of "As A Man Thinketh" once wrote, "He overawed us all a little because of his appearance, his gentle conversation,and especially because he went out to commune with God on the hills before dawn." He wrote:
