Joseph Calenda

Joseph "Joe" Calenda, 86, of Park Ridge, passed peacefully at home on November 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born in Ventimiglia, Sicily on August 31, 1939, to Giuseppe and Rosa La Nasa Calenda. He came to the United States in 1966 to join his mother and sister, Stefana Trippiedi nee Calenda, in pursuit of the American Dream.
In 1978 he married his wife, Teresa Calenda nee Rossi. Together they made their home in Park Ridge, Illinois, where they raised three daughters, Cristina (Matthew) Tomasko, Lisa (Billy) Quaranto, and Sandra (Eric) Hedin. Joe took great pride in his family and found his greatest joy in his five grandchildren, Ava and Alissa Tomasko, Joey and Evie Hedin, and Clara Quaranto.
He was loved and admired by many nieces, nephews, and friends in both the United States and Italy. Joe lived a full and beautiful life, cherishing time with family, sharing his appreciation for classical music, theater, and the stock market, enjoying winters in Arizona, and passing along his love of ice cream to his grandchildren.
Visitation, Wednesday, November 12, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, 120 South Northwest Highway, Park Ridge, IL. Funeral services begin at 9:00 am on Thursday, November 13, at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, and will then proceed to Saint Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 320 S Washington Street, (across the street from the funeral home), Park Ridge, IL 60068, for a 10:00 am Mass. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum, 700 N River Road, Des Plaines, IL
