Joseph "Joe" Edwin Carey, 77, of Black Rock, passed from this life on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at his residence. He was born March 4, 1948, in Jonesboro to Joseph Leonard and Ada Belle (Roper) Carey. He obtained his Bachelor's in Accounting from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Joe worked as an accountant for Trojan Luggage and Huffman Construction during his lifetime. Joe proudly served in the United States Navy and was of the Baptist faith. He was united in marriage to Brenda Hutsell on September 14, 1973, in Pocahontas.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Callahan.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Carey of the home; daughter, Amy Lea Carey of Portia; sisters, Nancy Bettisworth of Houston, Texas, Cheri Lingo of Egypt, Arkansas, and Elizabeth "Libby" Roberts of Imboden; brother, Tony Carey of Black Rock; grandchildren, Megan Lea Carey of Black Rock; great-grandchildren, Remington, Meredith, and Bentley; and a host of other family and friends.

I´ve known Joe for many years through Amy and Megan. Prayers for Brenda, Amy and Megan as well as my great grandchildren that will miss their Pops so much. Gone too soon . Love y´all.

I'm so so sorry for the passing of a dear friend..We were classmates, church mates ..I haven't seen "Buddy" since I left Black Rock in 1965..He was a special gentleman to lots..RIL my dear friend..
