Joseph Charles Carlon
July 30, 1947 - August 10, 2022
Salinas
Joseph Charles Carlon, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at age 75.
Joe (or JC as so many called him) was born on July 30, 1947, in Mitchell, South Dakota, to Joseph and Anne Carlon. Shortly after he was born, their family moved to Salinas, California, where they put down roots, grew their family and started a family business â€" Carlon Fire Extinguishers Sales and Service.
Joe lived his entire life in Salinas, with exception of the time he spent serving our country. Joe enlisted in the Navy and served on a river boat in Vietnam during the Vietnam War from 1967-1969.
Once Joe was home from the war, he returned to the family business and married the love of his life, Stephanie (Kimball), in 1970. They had one daughter, Lisa (Braga).
Not long after Lisa was born, Joe decided that he wanted to become a truck broker. He left the family business and went to work for Victor Valentine at Valentine Truck Brokers. After a decade of learning the ropes and honing his newfound skills, Joe went on to work for Joe Land at the Joseph Land Company and ultimately started his own company, Joe Carlon and Associates (Steph being the "associate," of course).
Joe's other true love was his love of cars. Race cars, drag cars, show cars, it didn't matter; he loved anything with four wheels and a (fast) motor. He also loved spending time with his family (especially his grandchildren), their neighbors and lifelong friends. He will be deeply and profoundly missed.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph and his mother, Anne. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Stephanie, daughter Lisa (Chris) Braga, two grandchildren, Emily and Nickolas Braga, sister Maria Holliday, brother Mark (Christine) Carlon, Sister Shelly Carlon, numerous nephews, one niece and of course, their beloved dog Maxx.
