Joseph Raymond Codney, Sr., age 78, passed away on June 17, 2024, in Medina, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born on September 12, 1945, in Bedford, Ohio to the late David and Helen (McGalbriath) Codney. Joseph was a machinist by trade and enjoyed working with his hands. He retired from Carlisle Manufacturing. He also was very talented with Lapidary work. He loved being outside and tending to his garden. (Especially his TOMATOES) Joseph also enjoyed fishing and hunting but most of all he loved his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Joseph always made time for everyone. His family will treasure the life lessons he taught them of kindness, patience, hard work and the importance of family. He will be dearly missed.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Janice (Novotney) Codney; his children, Joan Doughtry (Timothy), Joseph R. Codney, Jr. (Kim), Jerry D. Willoughby, Jr., Shelley Codney, Mickey Archacki (Danielle), Christine Bilczo, and Rita Holliday (Paul); 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Mary, James, Steven, KelliJo, Daniel, Sebestian, Christopher, Atticus; and great granddaughter, Kayleigh; his siblings, Katherine Green, David Codney, Kenneth Green; and a lifetime of collected friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends on Saturday June22, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N Court Street, Medina, OH 44256 followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Joseph's memory be made to: Medina County Animal Shelter, 6334 Deerview Ln, Medina, OH 44256.
