Joseph Patrick Collelo, 75, of West Alexander, passed away unexpectedly from complications of Pulmonary Fibrosis, Friday, February 4, 2022, in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born March 7, 1946, in Jersey City, N.J., son of the late Joseph A. and Maxine Akers Collelo.
On June 10, 1967, he married Marylou Mannino Collelo, in Hawaii, while serving in the U.S. Army from 1966-1972.
Joe was a truck driver for over 31 years, with APA Transport Corp., until his retirement in 2002. He then worked at Sprowls Hardware in Claysville, for three years until his wife, Marylou, was diagnosed with ALS. He was selflessly devoted to her until she lost her battle in August 2011.
Joe was a member of the First Christian Church in West Alexander, where he served as Deacon and was a member of the church choir.
He was also a member of the West Alexander American Legion Post 656, an avid bowler and Steelers fan. He loved God and loved his family.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Eric Collelo, who died December 5, 2021.
He is survived by his son, Frank (Lois) Collelo, of Valley Grove, W.Va.; daughter-in-law, Lynn Collelo, of West Alexander; sister, Patricia Ann Collelo, of Wheeling, W.Va.; and two grandchildren, Warren Collelo, of West Alexander, and Adriana Collelo, of Valley Grove, W.Va.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. until the time of service, at 7 p.m., Thursday, February 10, 2022, with Rev. Bruce Graff officiating, at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV 26003. (304-242-2311).
Interment in West Alexander Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
