Joseph Cook Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 31, 2025.
Joseph Lockwood Cook Jr., age 87, passed away on December 27, 2025. He was born on August 27, 1938, in Fowlerville, Michigan, to the late Joseph Lockwood Cook and Elaine Cook.
Joseph dedicated 37 years of his life to working for General Motors. Through his hard work and steady presence, he built a wonderful life for his beloved wife, Donna, and their children, Diana and Joe. Family was always at the center of Joseph's world, and he was overjoyed when grandchildren entered his life.
A talented craftsman, Joseph spent an entire year creating a beautiful English rocking horse for his granddaughter Shanel. For his grandson Mitchel's fourth birthday, he made a blue airplane that he could rock on, a gift filled with imagination and care. Joseph later taught Mitchel how to swing a golf club, and the two became great pals. Shanel brought laughter, joy, and love into his life, and as his grandchildren grew in confidence, Joseph took immense pride in who they were becoming. He cherished his family and friends deeply.
Joseph enjoyed playing golf for over 30 years and loved reading books by legendary golfers to continually improve his game. Above all else, he loved and protected his family for 62 years, always offering quiet strength, guidance, and devotion.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Donna M. Cook; his daughter, Diana (Derek) Burny; and his grandchildren, Shanel (Ben) Glendening and Mitchel Burny. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph L. Cook III, who passed away on December 1, 2021.
Those wishing to make contributions in memory of Joseph may do so to the Salvation Army.
