Joseph Allan Costa
It is with great sadness that we share that Joseph Allan Costa, best known as Allan, 71, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his loving family at his side on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Allan was the devoted husband of Sharon (Miele) Costa for over 38 blessed years and father of his devoted sons Matthew Costa and Michael Costa and his wife Alexa. Born March 31, 1954, Allan was the son of the late Americo Costa Jr and Helen (Casale) Costa.
Allan was a proud husband and father. His family was his greatest source of pride. Allan and Sharon's love story began with his gift of a yellow rose. Their love blossomed over the more than four decades together. They moved to Prospect to raise their family and became members of St. Anthony's Church. They raised their sons in deep and abiding faith. Allan was a dedicated and proud father who volunteered his time and talents to ensure his sons had the absolute best childhood. He taught CCD for St. Anthony's Church, coached soccer for Prospect Soccer Association and chaperoned many school field trips. Allan worked many early mornings ensuring the Prospect soccer fields were properly prepared for the games scheduled for the day.
Al was a "foodie". He was a fantastic cook who mastered many varieties of culinary challenges. New recipes brought new creations for his family and friends to savor. A great dinner could be highlighted with a friendly debate. He enjoyed a lively verbal exchange whether about sports teams, political topics or just about anything. Gifted with a keen intellect, a strong voice, and a wonderful sense of humor; Al enjoyed conversation. As a self-employed philanthropy officer, Allan successfully solicited donations for many local charity organizations.
Family meant the world to Allan. The milestones of his children were prioritized and treasured. Sports games, school events, graduations; he made sure to share and savor each family moment. Allan's strong and enduring faith throughout his life brought him solace during difficult days. Despite his illness, while standing proudly at his wife's side, Allan savored each moment of Michael and Alexa's wedding. Allan leaves a rich tapestry of precious memories, laughs and love for family and friends. His legacy will live on in his sons.
Left to cherish his love and memory besides his loving wife, Sharon, are his sons, Matthew Costa of Prospect and Michael Costa and his wife Alexa of Enfield. He also leaves his sister Linda Cloaninger and her husband Bill of NC, his sister-in law Ginni Greco and her husband John of Bethlehem, and his brother-in law Richard Miele and his wife Patti-Ann of Oakville, nephews Jeffrey Miele and his spouse Cesar Mercado, Thomas Miele and Jeremy Greco and his wife Christy, nieces Amanda White and her husband Shawn and Anne Marie Cloaninger, and great-niece and nephews Lucas Miele, Autumn Miele and George White. Allan leaves many friends who became chosen family over the years, especially his lifelong and closest friend George Corey, who stood by his side throughout this long journey.
A funeral mass for Allan will be celebrated on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect. All are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
