Joseph T. Crosier, US Army 1SG (Retired)
Delmar NY- Joseph Thomas Crosier left this earth on August 1, 2025 and is now at heavenly peace.
Born in Syracuse, NY on October 30, 1980, Joe led a dozen lifetimes in his 44 years on earth. Once described by his mom "Joe brings a lot of Joe to the room", he was always the life and light of any room he was in. He loved animals more than people most times, and was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast, lover of food & restaurants, and proud and responsible gun advocate. He was also a talented and creative musician, and spent his younger years playing and performing music with his brother John and friends. He was a devoted fan who loved going to concerts and preaching the gospel of his favorite new bands.
Joe was a guy who could have done anything, instead he became the most generous and thoughtful man most have ever known.
Joe joined the US Army on January 2, 2003 and embarked on a distinguished and meaningful 20 year career. A valiant and humble combat veteran, he deployed twice to Iraq as a Combat Medic. Joe gave much of himself to save many lives. Later in his career, he transitioned to a talented and committed Recruiter in both AMEDD and enlisted recruiting, continuing as a civilian recruiter in his semi-retirement. From Texas, Iraq, Georgia, New York, Pittsburgh and Las Vegas- and many more places in between, he left his mark on every soldier that knew him. A strong and steadfast leader through everything the "Big Green Weenie" threw at him, he was always there for everyone else. He was awarded many accolades during his career including the Combat Medical Badge, 5 Meritorious Service Medals, 5 Army Commendation Medals, 6 Army Good Conduct Medals, and countless others. Joe found his purpose in the US Army, and the Army found one of the most honorable, loyal and proud men to ever stand for this country.
His proudest achievement will always be his children. TJ and Addy were his driving force, and he worked every day to give them a father to be proud of. Joe loved them desperately and showed them through deeds, more than words. And an occasional inappropriate song, joke, or meme.
In 2016, he found the love of his life in Katy. Every single day, he made her feel like the luckiest woman in the world. Together, they were devoted long-distance partners, spreading laughter and love all over the country. They worked so hard on their lives to make it work, because they loved so easily they had no choice. The last 3 years, they were able to spend every day together, and made their dream come true in the home they made together. The love they shared will last for lifetimes.
In his semi-retirement days, Joe absolutely loved going out to eat, lifting weights, driving whatever car he loved at the time, and tipping with fervent and tireless generosity. Joe literally cheated death several times in his life, and so tried to live each day living out whatever purpose God had for him. He was a selfless, thoughtful, incredibly loving partner, father, and friend.
Joe is survived by his adoring partner, Katy; his demonbears Thomas John (Lexie Lonkey) and Adrianna (Michael Skinner); stepbears Hannah and Lillian; father Thomas Crosier (Kate Dickinson); brother John Crosier (Charlsey Bickett) and nephews Alex and Mark Crosier; and "Uncle Joe" to Mason Venditti. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many friends, and of course his loyal and deeply loved dogs, Simon and Freddy.
Joe is now at peace in the loving arms of those who preceded him in death: his loving mother, Brenda Riedl; his beloved dog, DixieBear; paternal grandparents John P. and Angeline Crosier, maternal grandparents Bernard and Barbara Burt, and many other family members and friends.
Joe will be deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him. His love, laughter and generous spirit will live on through all of us.
Funeral and Celebration of Life to be announced shortly.
