Joseph R. Daugherty

A memory of Joe this morning prompted me to search and see what he was up to. I was saddened to find this obit from last year. I hadn't seen or spoken with Joe since the late 90s but worked with him for several years at WRKR-FM in Kalamazoo. He was a pretty good stay at home defenseman on our station's roller hockey team. We even "starred together" in a TV spot about the station in the summer of 94. It was a few seconds of Joe throwing a frisbee to me. I recall his interest in the Civil War and I could get him laughing with my impression of Shelby Foote who was so prominently featured in Ken Burns' celebrated documentary about the conflict. Most important, Joe was terrific colleague and friend.

Joe and I spent the summer of 2012 together in Gettysburg. I will never forget the joy we had together.
