Joseph Dean Obituary

Circleville Joseph A. Dean, 96, of Little Walnut area, Circleville, OH passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at his residence. He was born on February 21, 1928 to the late Clarence A. and Mary (Koker) Dean in Athens, OH.

He was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII. Joe worked as a carpenter for Grandview Construction for 44 1/2 years and worked for himself most of his life and volunteered many hours remodeling the Ashville Museum. He was honored as State of Ohio Senior Citizen and was honored at the 4th of July Celebration as a Distinguished Citizen of Ashville. He was a member of Village Chapel Church and a member of Amvets Post 2256 in Circleville, OH.

Besides his parents, he was preceded by his wife Eleanor (Hardbarger) Dean of 74 years, a son Steve Dean, sisters Diane Dowler, Flory Johnson and Mary Low Menthorne, and brother Bob Dean.

Joseph is survived by his children Mike (Nancy), Jim, Cathy (Jim) and Dave (Judy); brothers Ronald Dean and Frank (Peg) Dean, sister-in-law Phyllis Dean, grandchildren Michelle, Elizabeth, Kim, Lisa, Nicole, Kristen and Lori; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4-8 Monday with Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Tuesday July 9, 2024 at Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St. Ashville 43103 with Pastor Kevin Pees officiating. Interment will follow at Heavenly Hills, Circleville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Village Chapel Church, 30 Viking Way, Ashville, OH 43103.
