Joseph David Desilva, a kind soul and cherished member of his family and community, passed away on February 27, 2025. He was born on April 19, 1964, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Joe's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a profound affinity for the joys of everyday living, from exploring new places to embracing the warmth of those around him.
A devoted quality controller at ABB Optical, Joe was known for his meticulous nature and deep commitment to quality in all aspects of his life. His spirit of adventure took him on many travels, where he delighted in tasting new cuisines and immersing himself in different cultures. Whether it was baking scrumptious cakes or crafting hearty meals, Joe's kitchen was a canvas for his creativity and passion, shared lovingly with family and friends.
Joe was an extraordinary caregiver to his husband, William Sears, bringing a deep well of compassion and warmth to their home. His kindness was felt by everyone he encountered-he truly never met a stranger, always ready with a warm smile and an open heart. His love for animals, particularly his cherished cats, brought him immense joy and companionship, enriching his life in immeasurable ways.
He leaves behind his beloved family: his father, Anthony Desilva; sisters, Sue (Sharon Thoroughman) Sears, Pat (Tom) Unger, and Deborah Desilva; and several nieces and nephews who will dearly miss his jovial spirit and unwavering support.
A memorial service honoring Joe's life will be held on March 22, 2025, at 11:00 am at Evans Funeral Home in Goshen, Ohio. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the beautiful memories he created.
