He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Elizabeth Downs.
He is survived by his wife Emily "Joyce" Downs of Bardstown; two sons, Brent (Jessica) Downs and Jonathan (Elizabeth) Downs; and four grandchildren, Linus Downs, Winston Downs, Jebediah Downs and Haywood Downs.
His funeral service is at 11:00 A.M. November 7, 2025 at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto Cathedral. The Very Reverand J. Randall Hubbard will officiate. Visitation from 9 A.M. till 10:15 A.M. Friday, November 7, 2025 at Barlow Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date.
Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Aunt Joyce, Brent and Johnathan, I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Lanny's passing. May God comfort you all in this time of loss.
I am sorry I couldn't be there for the visitation or funeral, but I was thinking of you. Love you all.
