Joseph Durivage Obituary

Durivage, Joseph George Sr.
NORTH GREENBUSH - Joseph George Durivage Sr., 90, passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 3, 2025, after just losing the love of his life six months prior. He was the son of the late Arthur F. and Marie (Spenard) Durivage Sr. He was the youngest of ten siblings, all deceased. George was predeceased by his loving wife of 71 years, Patricia (Esposito) Durivage on June 9, 2025. He was the devoted father of Ronald (Gayle Kirsch) Durivage of North Greenbush, Kenneth and Rosemary (Barba) Durivage of Castleton, Marie (Michael) Schongar of Brunswick, Susan (Thomas) O'Connell of North Greenbush, Robert (Diane Lang) Durivage of North Greenbush and the late Joseph (Angela) Durivage Jr. of Conway, S.C. He was the proud grandfather of 25 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He graduated grammar school from the Little Red Schoolhouse and graduated from LaSalle Institute High School in 1952. He was a member of the Naval Reserves from 1952-1956. His long-term career from 1953-1994 was with Niagara Mohawk in Albany and Troy as a valued serviceman for over 41 years.
He was a parishioner of St. Michael's Archangel Church, Troy. He was a member of the 25-year club at Niagara Mohawk. He initiated the Twin Town Little League Association and was treasurer of the North Greenbush Democratic Committee for many years. George was co-owner of Duri's Restaurant in North Greenbush, and many years after retirement; he worked with his sons on home improvements. He enjoyed many years having a garden, playing softball and basketball, and weekly card games with his family and friends. He liked watching all sports but was an avid fan of the NY Mets. He loved traveling to Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and Aruba for over 40 years. He was a 50-year member of the Troy Elks.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 9, at 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., at W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer, N.Y. 12144. Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 175 Williams Rd., Troy, N.Y. 12180. Interment will be held at a later date in April, at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy.
George's family would like to express their sincere thanks to the amazing caregiving team that cared daily for Dad in his home; MJ, Sherry, Lori and Lisa - you are the best caregiving team we could have asked for. Thank you for loving our dad. They would also like to offer their grateful thanks to the Community Hospice for all their guidance and support.

Durivage Family: Sorry to hear about Joe. Worked along side of him for a number of years. Also worked with his brother Art. Retired in 94 also. Those men were the backbone of Niagara Mohawk and cannot be ever replaced. Paul Leinbohm Niverville, NY
