WALLINGFORD:

Joseph Rufus Earle, age 85, passed peacefully, February 28, 2026; with family by his side; at his home in Wallingford.

Joe was born in Rutland on August 19, 1940. He was the son of Edward and Jeanette (Duval) Earle. He grew up in Rutland where he received his early education and graduated from M.S.J. class of 1958. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army, and served in Germany. After his honorable discharge in 1964 he returned home and began his working career with Moore's Business Forms, for the next 25 years. Following Moore's move from the area he began working at Mill River Union High School in the custodial department. He retired in 2008. Joe was a former member of the Wallingford Volunteer Fire department. He was an avid Red Sox fan and belonged to St. Peter's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his daughter; Robin Mary Fyles & her husband Mark, two sons; Terry Joseph Earle and his wife Colleen and Shannon Michael Earle and his partner; Ashley, one brother; Edward Earle and five sisters; Margaret Watson, Donna Sabotka, Shirley Earle, Nancy Wortman and Linda Wortman. 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife; Sandra Lee Earle in 2024; they were married in Brandon on October 13, 1962.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 20, 2026, at 10 AM, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rutland. Following the ceremony the family will receive friends at Rutland American Legion Post #31, for a time of remembrance.

A private graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date.

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory to; St. Peter Church, 134 Convent Avenue, Rutland, VT 05701.
