In Loving Memory of Joseph K. Easthagen Jr.

April 10, 1936 – December 12, 2025

Joseph K. Easthagen Jr., a devoted husband, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, and veteran, passed away December 12th at the age of 89 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He leaves behind a legacy of craftsmanship, service, and quiet dedication to family.

Born on April 10, 1936, Joe was the beloved son of Joseph K. Easthagen and Ellen C. Easthagen. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Janice Arlene Easthagen; his parents; and his sister, Faith Louise Ditlefsen.

He is survived by his stepdaughters: Valerie Rand of Woodbury; Linda Kandels of Northfield; and Sandy (Brent) Bainey of Babbitt, Minnesota. He also leaves behind grandchildren- Christopher (Bernice) Rand, Andrew (September) Kandels, Daniel Bainey, and Thomas Bainey; great-grandchildren- Clementine, Avery, and Augustus Kandels; and nieces and nephew-LeAnn Ditlefsen, Greg Ditlefsen, Nancy (Bob) Resler, and Shari Ditlefsen.

Joe served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960. After his military service, he applied his talents and tireless work ethic to a variety of trades. Whether crafting windows, framing homes, or remodeling commercial spaces, Joe was a true artisan. His passion for building extended beyond his career-he poured his heart into countless personal projects, often with Janice by his side. Together, they shared a love of gardening, remodeling their home, setting up beautiful Christmas Village displays, taking vacation road trips and restoring and selling collectible antique dolls.

A private interment with close family will be held in 2026 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, where Joe will be laid to rest with military honors.

Joe's life was one of quiet strength, skilled hands, and a generous heart. He will be forever remembered.
