Joseph K. Ertter JR.

Joseph K Ertter Jr., age 65, of Kirtland, passed away beside his family on March 8, 2022. He was born March 19, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio to Pauline and the late Joseph K. Ertter Sr. Joe was a 1974 graduate of Eastlake North High School, as well as a member of the North High Athletic Hall of Fame. A graduate of Kent State University, he went on to serve as the Associate Dean of the Department of Continuing Education for over 20 Years at Cleveland State University. Joe married the love of his life, Christina, on July 19, 1986. Joe was instrumental in the development of the Kirtland Football Program and was the voice of many other sports programs around the area. Joe was a passionate Cleveland sports fan, and could often be found cheering on the Browns with his son, late father, brother-in-laws, nephews and friends. He was a proud father and uncle and could be seen at many of his families' sporting events.
Joe is survived by his wife Christina (nee Rickel); his son Joseph (fiancé Emily Makar); mother Pauline (nee Betram); sisters, Suzie (Dan) Kukura, Sandy (Mike) Rowe, and Judy (Rohn) Hess; his loving nieces and nephews, Erin Ertter (Fiancé Ed Regovich), Dan (Kimberley) Ertter, Ben Ertter, Ryan Rowe (fiancé Cheyenne Parker), Emily Hess, Katie Rowe, Sammy Kukura, and Adam Hess.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph "Pappy" Ertter, his brothers Daniel Ertter Sr., and Richard A. Ertter.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday March 14, 2022 at 10 AM at Divine Word Catholic Church, 8100 Eagle Road in Kirtland (Please meet at church).
The family will receive friends at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Avenue in Willoughby, on Sunday from 12 – 4 PM.
