Joseph Nicholas Falletta

Born in New York City September 30, 1938, the son of the late Joseph T. Falletta and Mildred Miller Falletta. He is survived by his beloved wife, Frances Schneider Falletta, son Joseph T. Falletta II, and Granddaughter Alexandra.
Raised in Norfolk, VA Joe attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and graduated in 1952. He then went on to Norfolk Catholic High School, graduating in 1956. While attending Norfolk Catholic he played football under legendary coach Frank Amato, who later coached at Loyola of Chicago. Prior to attending college Joe worked for the City of Norfolk Organizing Divisions. During this time he played football for the Norfolk High League which consisted mainly of former high school players.
In September 1957 he enrolled in Belmont Abbey College, in Belmont NC. His extracurricular activities during this time included flag football, varsity soccer, and Monogram Club. His soccer coach was the legendary basketball coach, Al McGuire. He graduated college in June 1961 with a B.A. in Business Administration and the same year he joined the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves.
In July 1963 he joined the Bemis Company, a international packaging company headquartered at that time in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was attached to the Norfolk sales divisions and covered VA and NC.
In January 1975 he went to work for Morgen Brothers/ Seaboard Co a Richmond industrial and consumer packaging company. He covered Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, and parts of Pennsylvania. He retired in 2006.
During his time with Bemis and Morgen Bros, he received many awards for his achievements. He also served on the board of Directors at the Virginia Beach YMCA, Mount Trashmore. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, he attended many home football games in South Bend, IN, and drove to other neutral sites to see Notre Dame play.
He was known for his wit and charm, Joe had many friends in the Tidewater areas and the North East. He enjoyed going back to Belmont Abbey, joining fellow alumni for reunions, and also spending time with his high school friends and family that still resided locally.
A Funeral Service will be conducted Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 2:00PM at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at hdoliver.com
