Joseph A. Flaherty Jr., a lifelong resident of Reading, passed away peacefully on Monday June 24th, 2024 at home with his family by his side. He was 54 years of age.
Joe was a kind, bright soul who wore his heart on his sleeve for the loved ones he cared about. He was a hard working man and defined as a provider for his family. Throughout his years he worked as an electrician for Procter and Gamble. He was a man who took pride in his work and pride in his home and family. A handyman Joe was a professional at his job and a professional at making a house feel like a home. Anything that needed fixing in his family's home he wouldn't hesitate to fix himself, that was his love language.
He was a man of many hobbies with music and sports being the main one's. You wouldn't find a day where Joe missed an NFL game on TV or a time where he wasn't in the backyard blasting the music he loved while taking care of his pool. Joe lived selflessly for his family and always made sure his wife and kids were comfortable and taken care of. An extremely goofy and compassionate man he never took life to seriously and always knew how to laugh and kick back and relax. He was a man of many loving attributes and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him or meeting him knew that almost instantly. He was never hesitant to reach out to help someone in need. He would always take the time to teach or educate on the skills he knew.
A gentle man and a lover of animals Joe had an endless amount of love and care towards the different animals in his life. Whether it was a cat, dog, bunny or bird Joe always emphasized his affection and love to them. Any animal that joined the family was immediately greeted with open arms. Joe was a beautiful and kind soul and his passing will be remembered by his family and his legacy will live on.
Joseph is the beloved husband of Karen (Bassett) Flaherty. He is the cherished father of Kaleigh Ann Flaherty and Joseph Anthony Flaherty III. Loving brother of Tracy Flaherty. Dear cousin of Michael Flaherty and Lindsay (Flaherty) Power. Son of Joseph Anthony Flaherty Sr. and Sandra (Stubeda) Flaherty. He is also survived by his loving dog Axel and cat Bowie as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
