Joseph Forhan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Inc on Jun. 24, 2025.
Joseph Kent Forhan, 62, of Collinsville, Oklahoma, passed away on May 25, 2025, in Tulsa. Born on February 3, 1963, in St. Louis, Missouri, Joe proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1986 to 1996. His service included providing support during the aftermath of the Murrah Building bombing in Oklahoma City in 1995. After retiring from military service, he continued working with dedication as a local delivery truck driver - and with even more enthusiasm as a classic car and Chevy truck enthusiast.
A resident of Collinsville since 1998, Joe was known for his deep loyalty to his family and his love for coffee, his cats, and anything with a V8 engine. He was a steady presence at every family gathering - graduation, wedding, funeral, or holiday - even if he was often found dozing mid-celebration in a lawn chair, recliner, porch swing, or stretched out in the middle of the living room floor. His generosity and care for others was reflected in his final act of life-donating his liver and kidneys to complete strangers.
He was the kind of uncle who could drive us nuts with his opinions but would always back up the people he loves regardless of whether we were right or wrong. Joe had more car accidents than anyone we've ever met - but, of course, never one that was his fault.
He is survived by his fiancée, Tess Sombrito of the Philippines; his sister, Leesa Choate and brother-in-law Jimmy Choate of Sasakwa, OK; his sister Mary Forhan of Byng, OK; his sister-in-law, Susan Forhan of Muskogee, OK; his son, Allen Forhan and grandchildren, Aiden and Abby of Canada; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss him fiercely.
Greeting Joe in glory are his parents, Maurice Forhan and Barbara Spurrier (and husband Norman); his brothers, Jimmy Jack and Charlie Forhan; and beloved grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
We will miss his dry humor, his requests for sandwiches, and the comfort of his constant presence. And we know that one day, he'll be waiting for us on the other side - coffee in hand, trademark grin in place, and a cat on his lap.
We invite friends and loved ones to join us at the Choate Family Home for a memorial service on July 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow.
