It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Patrick Gabaldón, who peacefully departed this life on June 20, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on January 19, 1960, in Holbrook, Arizona. He lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and a commitment to his community.
Joseph was a beloved husband to his wife, Carla Gabaldon, and a cherished father to his four children; J.J. Gabaldon, Jessi (Spencer) Brinjak, P.J. Gabaldon and Gabriel Gabaldon; as well as his 5 adoring grandchildren, Damien, Aaliyah, Kadence, Sadie, and Kynzleigh.
Joseph was given the nickname "Hobo" at a young age by his brother and the name absolutely stuck. During his 41-year career with the Holbrook Unified School District, Hobo was known for his unwavering work ethic and ability to tackle any challenge. During his 27 years with the Holbrook Volunteer Fire department, Hobo earned the respect and admiration of his peers while working his way up the ranks, and took great pride in being able to serve his community in these roles.
He was a man who found joy in the simple things - quiet mornings spent fishing by the lake, the peaceful solitude of a hunting trip, and the deep contentment that came from being surrounded by nature and the people he loved. Though he didn't wish to make a big deal out of his funeral services, his family is eager to honor his legacy and the impact he made on those around him.
On July 8, 2025, friends and family are invited to convene at the Holbrook Firehouse at 945am to escort Hobo with the fire department to the Holbrook cemetery for a graveside service at 10:00 am to celebrate Joseph's life and contributions to his community. After the service, everyone is welcome to attend a "pot luck style" reception at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish center.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly request that donations be made to the Holbrook Volunteer Fire Department in Hobo's memory.
Joseph will be remembered fondly for his devoted commitment to family, community, and the simple joys of life. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
